Unincorporated Nevada County’s sales tax revenues fell 20% in third quarter (updated)

Falling gas prices were partly to blame for a 19.6 percent drop in unincorporated Nevada County’s third-quarter (July-Sept.) sales tax revenues.

The construction industry – including contractors and building materials – also posted big drops, according to a report published by The HdL Companies and released today by the Nevada County Executive Office.

So far this fiscal year, receipts are far behind last year’s. The first two quarters have brought the county $1,017,928 in receipts, compared to $1,310,993 during the same period a year earlier.
