A Sunday morning crash left an unidentified man hospitalized and another man facing a court date on a reckless driving charge after an accident on Highway 49 near Alta Sierra Drive.

Officer Troy Marks of the California Highway Patrol said William Gutenberger, 24, of Sacramento was pulling out of a driveway and onto northbound Highway 49 when he fishtailed in and out of the north and southbound lanes of the highway, striking a northbound Mustang driven by a man the CHP said was carrying no identification in the 12:47 p.m. crash. Gutenberger’s pickup struck the driver’s side of the unidentified man’s car.

The unidentified man was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, Marks said.

Gutenberger was released on his own recognizance at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 25.
