U.S. Sewing Machine joins blanket project

U.S. Sewing Machine is teaming up with the Nevada County Chapter of Project Linus for a “Make A Blanket Day,” to be held Feb. 18.

The event, which will take place at U.S. Sewing Machine, 12344 Nevada City Highway in Grass Valley, is a benefit for Project Linus, a nonprofit organization geared to provide comfort to children in need.

U.S. Sewing Machine, a Janome America dealer, invites those interested in helping to make quilts, afghans and fleece blankets for children in crisis. There is no experience necessary to participate.

Pre-cut quilting kits, $2 without batting and $4 with batting, will made available by U.S. Sewing Machine. A large sewing area will also be provided, along with snacks and drinks.

Each individual turning in a handmade blanket will be entered in a drawing to win a Janome DC3050 computerized Decor Series sewing machine. The drawing will be held at the end of the Feb. 18 event.

Blankets donated at U.S. Sewing Machine in Grass Valley will remain in Nevada County. Last year, the company collected more than 180 blankets through “Make a Blanket Day.”
