Two women reportedly mugged at knifepoint

Two women sitting in a vehicle outside City Hall in Grass Valley reported being mugged by a man with a dagger Friday night.

The women were sitting in the parked vehicle when a man dressed in a black hooded and wearing a red baseball cap opened the driver’s side door just after 9 p.m., said Grass Valley Police Sgt. Joe Matteoni.

“He had a dagger in his hand,” Matteoni said.

The man reportedly demanded money and the women complied, giving him less than $40. He then reportedly fled on foot.

The man was described as having a blond goatee and was wearing a splint on his left hand.

He remains at large, Matteoni said.
