Two injured, one critically, in crash

A California Highway Patrol officer investigated this collision at the intersection of Highway 49 and Highway 20 in Nevada City at about 7 p.m. Thursday. A 1987 Honda CRX driven by Lola Gove of Nevada City was totalled. Gove, 46, was westbound on Highway 20 and attempted to turn right onto Highway 49.

According to CHP Officer Greg Thys, Gove failed to make the turn and her vehicle hit Vanessa Grimm’s, who was on Highway 49 and trying to turn onto the Golden Center Freeway in her Chevy Tahoe.

Grimm, 28, was treated for minor injuries and released. Gove was transported to Sierra Nevada Hospital with laceration to the head and later transferred to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with a head trauma, where she was listed in critical condition Friday. Thys said Gove is being investigated for driving under the influence.
