Transfer station closed

Nevada County’s garbage transfer station will be closed until noon today to allow cleanup of a fire that burned a semi-truck trailer.

Michael Hill-Weld, director of the county’s transportation department, said the county decided to keep the transfer station closed “in order to upright the damaged trailer onto another trailer and get it out of the way.

“We feel the best way to accomplish this efficiently is to restrict public access. So we will be closed ’til noon,” he said.
