Trail-building event scheduled for next week

Trails take people away from the grind of daily life and into nature, an especially agreeable function here in the Sierra Nevada.

Next week, representatives from the International Mountain Biking Association are planning to host a free, two-day trail building workshop.

Geared to teach anyone – bikers, hikers and equestrians – how to build a trail, the event kicks off Friday with a 2 p.m. ride starting at the Tour of Nevada City on 457 Sacramento St. in Nevada City.

Saturday marks the main event, as everyone is invited to the Twin Cities Church at 9 a.m. on 11726 Rough and Ready Highway in Grass Valley. From 9 a.m. to noon, representatives from IMBA will offer a trail building school. Lunch will be provided before students walk from the church to Kenny Ranch to build a trail.
