Traffic violation leads to double arrest

An unlicensed driver in a vehicle missing a license plate led to the arrest of his two passengers Tuesday afternoon.

Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force members were in Grass Valley near Neal Street when they spotted Brian Kim, 24, said Sheriff Keith Royal.

They knew Kim, who has been arrested several times in the last six months on drug charges, did not have a valid driver’s license – and was driving a vehicle that was missing a plate, Royal said.

Officers followed Kim to Pleasant Street before stopping the vehicle, which was carrying two passengers.

Roy Edward Voight, 40, of Grass Valley, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into county jail and released on $36,000 bail.

Patrick James Patterson, 34, of Grass Valley, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked and released on $72,000 bail.

Kim, meanwhile was cited and released on suspicion of driving without a license.
