Town hall meeting discusses "The Next Fire"

Local, state and federal officials responsible for emergency response will discuss how to be prepared for the next big fire in Nevada County.

The town hall meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Center for the Arts, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley. Admission is free.

Panelists will discuss prevention, evacuation and resources available. Members of the public will be able to ask questions.

Panelists include: Brad Harris, Calfire Unit Chief; Jeanne Pincha-Tulley, Tahoe Forest National Forest; Jim Marquis, Grass Valley fire chief; Joanne Drummond, Fire Safe Council of Nevada County; Capt. Ron Smith, Nevada County Sheriffs Office; Chief Tim Fike, Nevada County Consolidated Fire District; Vic Ferrera, Nevada County Office of Emergency Services; and Warren Knox, Federation Of Neighborhood Associations.

The forum will be broadcast live on KVMR 89.5 FM, moderated by Alan Stahler, science writer for The Union and KVMR’s science correspondent.
