Thousands of PG&E customers lose power

Electricity went out for more than 3,000 PG&E customers in Nevada City Monday afternoon when underground equipment failed at the utility’s Brunswick Basin substation. PG&E’s Brandi Ehlers said 3,174 customers were initially affected by the 3:42 p.m. power outage, but that service crews were able to get blocks of customers back on line as the day progressed. By 8:45 p.m., 1,781 customers were still in the dark. Ehlers had no estimate for when power would be fully restored.
