Theater deserves kudos

For the life of me, I can’t remember the last time one of my neighbors came over with a handful of paint chips to ask my opinion about the color they are going to paint their house. This is what Mike and Barbara Getz have done. They are going to allow the community (in the form of an appointed community, sort of like the House of Representatives) to pick an artist, John Pugh, to paint a new mural on the back of their theater.

I think it has been a little embarrassing the way the community has reacted to what Mike and Barbara, and the committee have tried to do. Where are the thanks? They do not have to do anything. We have several very nice murals in Grass Valley, and I do not recall hearing any complaints about them. Boy, if artists only created what they felt the public wanted, we would have no art at all. This mural is not even on the wall and we already want to paint over it. Thanks Mike and Barbara for thinking of the community and trying to make it a little more attractive.
