‘The Nest Fest & Stride’ set Oct. 10 in Penn Valley

A 2-mile family fun and stroller-friendly walk and picnic, “The Nest Fest & Stride,” is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at Western Gateway Park, 18560 Penn Valley Drive, Penn Valley.

The event is a fundraiser for The Nest Family Resources, a parenting and breastfeeding support organization.

Tickets are $35 for adults; $10 for kids 5-15 (kids under 5 are free).

Tickets include lunch, beverages, music, games, special guests such as Hazelmoon Photography, Nevada County Babywearers, Family Yoga Class and more.

There will also be a silent auction including baby items, doula services, movie tickets, massage therapy and many other services — plus two nights at the MGM in Las Vegas.

The event has a Facebook page, “The Nest Fest & Stride: Families Helping Families Take Flight,” for more information.

All proceeds go toward sustaining The Nest’s free parenting circles, which are intended to increase breastfeeding rates and lessen the impact of postpartum depression in our county.

The Nest is also expanding with new programs, such as a dads’ group for expectant fathers and a new clinic with a lactation consultant. Also planned are mom and baby clinics to provide free early intervention for families.
