Sutherland clarifies NH 2020 comment

District 4 supervisorial candidate Robin Sutherland doesn’t want folks to get the wrong idea about her comments regarding the county’s controversial planning process made during last week’s debate in Grass Valley.

“When I stated we need to come to the table and start over, I by no means meant that we need to start the NH 2020 process over,” Sutherland said Thursday. “The 1995 General Plan already considered environmental issues and is an adequate planning tool.”

Instead of NH 2020 and additional, unnecessary restrictions on land, Sutherland said county government needs to improve roads and infrastructure and listen to the concerns of the people.

While many people have worked hard on the NH 2020 committees, Sutherland said the majority of people just don’t want the planning process.

“We need to march to the beat of their drum,” she said.
