Support for the president

There is a massive and relentless campaign to discredit President Obama. But I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have in the White House during the current crises than President Obama.

I believe he is one of the most decent, conscientious and intelligent presidents we’ve ever had. He inherited a mess: Two wars, a failing health care system, a downward spiraling economic emergency and international distrust.

Among other accomplishments, his programs have helped stop a full-blown depression and prevent a future one. (He’s stepped on many toes in the process and that may account for much of the money and energy going into the campaign to destroy him.)

There continues to be far too many people hurting from unemployment and losing their homes. What we don’t need now is more people in Congress who only vote “no.” In a crisis, we must work together.

I urge those of you who still have independent minds to resist the scare and smear tactics and make an effort to listen/watch/read balanced news. I trust you then will support this president and elect the people who will work with him towards a healthy recovery.
