Supervisor Sutherland set to bid farewell

District 4 Nevada County Supervisor Robin Sutherland will hold a town hall meeting Monday to say goodbye to her constituents after four years of service.

Although she will remain at her post until incoming Supervisor Hank Weston is sworn in on Jan. 8, 2007, Sutherland plans to talk about what’s in store for the district.

Sutherland did not run for re-election in June after taking two months of medical leave at the beginning of 2006. She cited “family responsibilities” as her reason for leaving office.

“The one thing that has been a blessing to me as a supervisor is getting to know the wonderful people in this community,” Sutherland told The Union in December 2005.

Sutherland was instrumental in forming the Nevada County Substance Abuse Advisory Board. She also has been a strong advocate for residents with disabilities, for acquiring park lands and for finding unique ways to save the county money.

The public is invited to come to the meeting. Sutherland will review her work of the past four years and talk about future plans for District 4, which includes Lake Wildwood, Penn Valley, Rough and Ready, North San Juan, Clear Creek, Newtown Road, Big Oak Valley and areas along Highways 20 and 49.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the North San Juan Fire Station, 10057 Reservoir St.
