Student jump start event at Sierra College

Thinking about attending Community College this fall? The Sierra College Nevada County Campus in Grass Valley will host a New Student Jump Start event Aug. 16.

The purpose of this event is to streamline the registration process and get students into the classes they want and need in time for the start of the Fall 2014 semester, which begins Aug. 25, according to Sierra College.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Building N1. An RSVP is required to attend. Call the NCC Counseling Center at 530-274-5303, ext. 5.

There are two important steps that must be done online before attending this jump start event:

— Complete the online application for admission by logging in to http://www.sierra

— Upon admission, complete the online orientation. This can be found by clicking onto the link on your mySierra portal.

Complete your final registration steps for Fall at the Jump Start Event. New student workshops include: assessment and placement, how to pay for college, group Counseling session and signing up for classes.

The Nevada County Campus is located at 250 Sierra College Drive, Grass Valley. Parking is free on Saturdays on campus.
