Stop printing candidate endorsement letters

This is in response to Dennis Olvarez’ Sept. 30 Letter to the Editor, “Don’t take the bait.”

I’m an avid reader of Letters to the Editor in The Union. One thing I find disturbing is how many times the paper has allowed writers to lift up their candidate in the Letters to the Editor.

I think it’s fine to give your opinion on how this country is being run but to voice your opinion about a certain candidate is no more than electioneering for the particular candidate. And I think it’s wrong.

A writer can write about a candidate and say anything they want misaligning the candidate. I saw this also in the candidates who run for office here in Nevada County. The editor of this paper should put a stop to it. If you want to support a certain candidate buy a ad. That’s fair for all.
