Speakers named for annual GOP barbecue

Several Republican dignitaries have signed on to speak at the annual Republican Barbecue at the Nevada County Fairgrounds Aug. 25.

The theme for the barbecue is “Kick Up the Dust and Retake California.”

Reservations are required for the dinner, which begins with a social hour at 3 p.m. Speeches begin at 4 p.m., and the barbecue dinner follows.

The following speakers have been confirmed: Rep. John Doolittle; state Sen. Bruce McPherson, candidate for lieutenant governor; Assemblyman Keith Olberg, candidate for secretary of state; state Sen. Dick Ackerman, candidate for attorney general; state Sen. Tom McClintock, candidate for state controller; Greg Conlon, candidate for state treasurer; Kathryn Smith, candidate for superintendent of public instruction; Assemblyman Bill Leonard, candidate for the state Board of Equalization; Assemblyman Sam Aanestad, candidate for state Senate; Rick Keene, candidate for state Assembly; Nevada County Supervisor Sue Horne; Drew Bedwell, candidate for Nevada County Supervisor District 3; and Robin Sutherland, candidate for Nevada County Supervisor District 4.

Radio personality Eric Hogue of Sacramento’s KTKZ-AM will be at the barbecue.
