South Yuba River meeting Tuesday

The Union staff

The 21st public meeting to write a comprehensive plan for public lands along the 39-mile stretch of the South Yuba River from Spaulding Reservoir to Lake Englebright will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the L.O.V.E. Building, 660 Minnie St., Condon Park in Grass Valley.

Topics will include riverwide recreation management, recreation opportunities and visitor capacity. A panel of agency field staff will provide insights on issues and problems they see at the river. The presentation will follow, with a question and answer session.

In the second part of the meeting, the management team will explain a proposed planning strategy called the Recreation Opportunity Spectrum. It is designed to provide a range of recreation experiences that those involved in the planning process can select from for various sections of the river corridor.

It is hoped that participants will assist in developing a custom Recreation Opportunity Spectrum for the South Yuba. The spectrum will help begin to define visitor capacities on the river.
