Snyder to speak at NSJ fundraiser

Pulitzer Prize winner and environmental poet Gary Snyder will grace the stage of the Oak Tree Lodge at a combined fundraiser for the Oak Tree Community Park and the San Juan Ridge Family Resource Center on Friday, Sept. 24. The Oak Tree Community Park and Rec District committee is spreading the word of their upcoming November ballot measures, A and B. The measures, if passed, will allow the lower 11 acres of the former Oak Tree School campus to be used as a community park and will form the Oak Tree Park and Rec District.

The committee is co-producing the event to raise funds for the election and for children’s programming at the family resource center. The event will be an intimate evening with Snyder with an array of desserts and beverages for sale.

Snyder will focus on works relating to the Sierra and will be accompanied by Sean Kerrigan on guitar. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. The Oak Tree Lodge is located at the former Oak Tree School, 18847 Oak Tree Road, on the San Juan Ridge.

Limited advance tickets can be purchased at the Family Resource Center beginning today. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
