Sights, sounds of summer

Summer Nights kicked off Wednesday evening to blue skies and packed streets in downtown Nevada City.

The event, which will be held the next two Wednesdays as well, featured live music on five outdoor stages, classic cars, a growers market, an artists’ alley and the Troupe Al Ama belly dancers performing at York and Commercial streets.

In addition, around 50 craft and food vendors were displaying their products on Broad Street. The event is from 6 to 9 p.m.

Free parking is available at the Rood Center; a shuttle to Broad Street is $5 roundtrip for adults and free for children 12 and younger.
