Long-term projects

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra Road: Work continues on a $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance of nine bridge structures in south Placer County to 16 feet, 6 inches. The vertical clearance will be increased on six structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other three will have the roadway below dug down. Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Sierra College Boulevard to Newcastle Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures and on-ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Friday for bridge work. Motorists also can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday on the Brace, Gilardi, Horseshoe Bar, King, Penryn and Magra overcrossings for bridge work.

State Route 89 (Placer/Nevada County) at the Union Pacific Railroad undercrossing south of Interstate 80: Ground breaking on April 2 to officially begin project to construct a pedestrian and bicycle tunnel under the Union Pacific Railroad adjacent to the existing SR 89 undercrossing and construct a Class I paved trail along the east side of SR 89 between Deerfield Drive and West River Street.




State Route 89 (Placer/Nevada County) from West River Street to Deerfield Drive: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls through the tunnel from 6 p.m. Monday August 10 to 6 a.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Thursday August 13 for roadway excavation.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the Illinoistown Overcrossing at Canyon Way and South Auburn Street/Placer Hills Road: Motorists can expect freeway connector ramp closures from 8 a.m. Monday August 10 through 4 p.m. Friday August 14 for bridge work. Motorists can also expect intermittent one-way traffic controls across the Illinoistown Overcrossing 24 hours/day beginning Monday at 12:01 a.m. and ending Friday at 11:59 p.m. for roadway excavation.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from the Bowman Road undercrossing to the Haines Road (Bell Road) overcrossing: Motorists can expect overnight lane and shoulder restrictions from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (westbound) and 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. (eastbound) Monday August 10 through 4 p.m. Friday August 13 for bridge inspection.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) between Hirschdale Road and Mystic Road/Farad undercrossing: Motorists can expect intermittent evening and overnight connector ramp closures and various alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. Sunday August 9 to 12 noon Monday through Friday August 14 for striping operations and bridge work.

Interstate 80 – Westbound (Nevada County) from the Truckee River Bridge to Floriston Road: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. Monday August 10 to Noon Tuesday through Friday August 14 for striping operations.

Interstate 80 – Westbound (Nevada County) at the Floriston interchange: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 6 a.m. to Noon Monday August 10 through Thursday August 13 for bridge work.

Interstate 80 – Eastbound (Nevada County) between the Truckee River Bridge and Hinton Road: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 5 p.m. Monday August 10 to Noon Tuesday through 9 a.m. Friday August 14 for striping operations.

Interstate 80 – Eastbound (Nevada County) at the Floriston Road Interchange: Motorists can expect right full ramp closure from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday August 12 for striping operations.

Interstate 80 – Eastbound (Nevada County) from Floriston Road to Mystic Road:

Motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from 6 a.m. to Noon Wednesday August 12 and Thursday August 13 for scaffolding removal at the Acid Flat Bridge.

Interstate 80 – Eastbound (Placer County) at the Kingvale overcrossing: Motorists can expect full ramp closure from 7 p.m. Monday August 10 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday August 6 at midnight for highway construction.

Interstate 80 – Eastbound (Placer/Nevada County) from the Kingvale undercrossing to the Soda Springs overcrossing: Motorists can expect overnight right lane and shoulder closures from 5 p.m. to 11 a.m. Monday August 10 through Friday August 14 for highway construction.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Rio Oso Road to SR 49 / SR 20 interchange: Motorists can expect alternating lane, auxiliary lane and shoulder closures from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday August 9 through Wednesday August 12 for grinding and paving work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) at the junction of State Route 49 and State Route 20 (West Empire Street): Motorists can expect connector ramp closures from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday August 9 through Wednesday August 12 for grinding and paving work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) Northbound and Southbound McKnight Way: Motorists can expect connector ramp closures from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday August 9 through Wednesday August 12 for grinding and paving work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) at the Highway 49 and Brewer Road junction: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday August 9 through Wednesday August 12 for paving operations.

State Route 49 – Southbound (Placer County) from Willow Creek Drive to Bell Road: Motorists can expect overnight right lane and right shoulder closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday August 9 through Tuesday August 11 and from Noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday August 12 for utility and pavement work.

State Route 49 (Placer County) from Dry Creek Road to Bear River Bridge: Motorists can expect overnight right lane and right shoulder closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday August 10 through Thursday August 13 for shoulder work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Lemon Canyon/Campbell Hot Springs to Filippini Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic operations from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday August 10 through Friday August 14 for drainage work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Coyote Ravine to Gold Lake Highway/Green Road: Motorists can expect one way traffic control from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday August 10 to Thursday August 13 for miscellaneous operations.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from 3rd Street to 4th Street in Loyalton: Motorists can expect full street closure ((1 block detour) from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday August 10 to Thursday August 13 for tree work.

State Route 89 (Sierra County) from Perry Creek (Sierraville) to Berry Creek (Sierra/Plumas county line): Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday August 10 through Friday August 14 for drainage work.

State Route 89 (Nevada County) from Prosser Dam Road to Sage Hen Road: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday August 10 through Thursday August 13 and 5 a.m. through 2 p.m. Friday August 14 for AC paving and guardrail repair.
