Sexual abuser of 5-year-old girl, 67, sentenced
A 67-year-old Lake of the Pines man who sexually abused a 5-year-old girl was sentenced to 300 days in jail Jan. 7 in Nevada County Superior Court.
He must serve at least 30 days behind bars before qualifying to serve the balance under alternative sentencing, such as home monitoring. He was also put on three years’ probation with conditions he have no contact with children without a supervising adult around.
Jack L. Gunn pleaded no contest to a charge he molested the girl during a six-month period ending in late March.
— Stephen Siegel, 34, of Nevada City was sentenced to seven years and four months in prison Jan. 7 for manufacturing methamphetamine, domestic assault and battery.
He was arrested March 23 at his Owl Creek Road home after officers found found meth-making equipment and a woman with a bruised face. A prior burglary conviction increased Siegel’s sentence.
— Andrew G. Young Jr., 37, of Grass Valley was sentenced Thursday to 300 days in jail. He must serve at least 60 days before qualifying to serve the balance under alternative sentencing.
Young was also put on five years’ probation, with conditions he have no contact with girls without a supervising adult around. He was convicted of molesting a girl under 14 between August 1999 and February 2000.
— Dwayne P. Neff, 42, of Grass Valley pleaded not guilty Thursday of domestic battery, vandalism, resisting arrest and exhibiting a knife.
The incident occurred Jan. 2. A felony conference is Jan. 24.
— Derek Holbrook-Ramirez, 21, and Shane Holbrook, 26, both of Grass Valley, pleaded not guilty Jan. 7 to assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. Their felony conferences are Jan. 24.
The state Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting the case to avoid a possible conflict of interest with the District Attorney’s Office.
Holbrook-Ramirez is accused of assaulting a 22-year-old man with a baseball bat on Jan. 26, 2001, causing great bodily injury, and damaging the alleged victim’s vehicle, Deputy Attorney General Clifford Zall said.
Holbrook is accused aiding and abetting the alleged attack. The incident occurred in the area of Rattlesnake and Wheeler Cross roads, Zall said.
— Todd E. Klundt, 36, and Mary A. Mallon, 55, both of San Juan Ridge, pleaded not guilty Jan. 7 to marijuana possession for sale and marijuana cultivation. Their felony conference is Feb. 7.
Narcotics agents reported finding 40.59 pounds of dried marijuana buds, 20 mature plants and others of various heights Oct. 9 at the defendants’ Hyatt Road home.
— Brian L. Forkner, 29, of Nevada City pleaded not guilty Jan. 7 to criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon. A felony conference is Jan. 24.
He’s accused of putting a rifle to a woman’s head and threatening to kill her Jan. 2.
— Robyn R. Keeling, 26, of Cedar Ridge pleaded no contest Jan. 4 to a misdemeanor of driving under the influence and causing bodily injury. She was sentenced to three years’ probation, 30 days of work release and $1,587 in fines and fees.
On Sept. 14, Keeling crashed a Ford Bronco into a tree off La Barr Meadows Road, injuring herself and a male passenger.Keeling had been charged with four counts of felony DUI before reaching a plea agreement.
