The Radioactive Raiders from Seven Hills School won the Feb. 2 seventh annual Brain Busters challenge at Bitney College Prep High School.

The spirit award went to Traska, the all-girls team from Pleasant Valley.

Nevada City School of the Arts won honorable mention, with only 13 points fewer than the winning team.

“It’s been close before, but a difference of only 13 points is really close,” said Bruce Herring, Bitney College Prep principal.

The competition involves a team from each participating middle school that competes in mental and physical challenges.

The seventh-grade SWAT team from Clear Creek won fifth place, which is impressive against eighth-graders, Herring said.

“It was so fun,” Herring said. “Certainly a good time was had by all.”
