SENIOR CITIZENS FOUNDATION TO SELL THE LUTZ CENTER BUILDING

Editor’s Note: The Lutz Center sent this to the Union at 3:30 today, Wednesday, June 23. The center will continue to operate in the Lutz Center Building until it is sold and will be looking for new quarters.

“The Board of Directors of the Senior Citizens Foundation and the Special Board of Directors of the Lutz Adult Day Health Care program announced today, Wednesday, June 21 that the Lutz Center Building will be offered for sale.

“This decision has been reached only after significant discussion and consideration of the complications of such a decision. Due to a combination of many circumstances, the Lutz Adult Day Health Care program has suffered significant losses which impact the financial resources of the Senior Citizens Foundation which includes the Lutz Adult Day Health Care program.

“The Senior Center and the High Noon Senior Nutrition program. The Foundation has therefore decided it must sell it’s major asset, the Lutz Center building.

“It is the intent of the joint Boards to find suitable space as soon as possible for the Adult Day Health Care program. The joint Boards are asking the community, public as well as private, to consider offering space, or funding, to maintain this critical program for the brain impaired citizens of this county, as well as their caretakers, who have limited, if any, respite services available.”
