Semi driver arrested

An Oregon big rig driver was arrested on Monday morning for allegedly driving his tractor trailer into an Interstate 80 chain installer.

The incident happened during a snowstorm while big rig trailers were backed up on the interstate, according to Truckee police.

Witnesses say the chain installer told the driver he could not park in an area at the Boca chain installation area since the tractor trailer was blocking other vehicles. The 60-year-old trucker and the chain installer got into an argument, according to police. The driver then got into his big rig and drove it slowly into the chain installer, knocking him to the pavement and causing minor injuries.

The driver then got out of the vehicle and began yelling at the chain installer, according to police accounts gathered from witnesses.

The chain installer, a Floriston resident, was taken to Tahoe Forest Hospital with minor injuries.

The Winston, Ore., truck driver was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to police. His vehicle was towed from the area and he was released on $25,000 bail.
