Seder dinner planned Saturday

Congregation B’nai Harim at the Nevada County Jewish Community Center (NCJCC) is hosting a kosher-style, catered Passover Seder at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Nevada City. Catering is by Christine Cain. A vegetarian option is also available if ordered at reservation. Passover is a holiday celebrating freedom from slavery, specifically, the Exodus of the Israelites, led by Moses, from Egypt. A special dinner, called a Seder re-enacts the Exodus through stories, songs and ritual foods. At the center of the table is a Seder plate, which has the various ritual foods on it. Passover begins at sunset today and lasts for 8 days. Tickets for the Seder are $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. To make a reservation, contact Mya Russell at or at 530-272-1554. Checks should be made out to NCJCC and mailed to 506 Walsh Street, Grass Valley, CA 95945. Please include the name of your party reservation in the memo line of your check. The Elks Lodge is located at 518 Hwy. 49 in Nevada City.
