Second growth initiative signatures turned in

About 1,100 unverified signatures were turned into Grass Valley City Clerk Kristi Bashor on Monday for the second of two growth initiatives slated for the November ballot. It will now go to County Clerk Gregory Diaz to verify at least 824 signatures as Grass Valley voters in order to make the ballot, Bashor said. The second growth initiative essentially follows the city’s general plan for growth through 2020. The initial “managed growth” initiative would call for a vote of the people on major developments instead of letting it go through normal city channels for acceptance or rejection.
