Scary night set for teens for Halloween

For teenagers inclined to get into a scary mood before Halloween, the Miner’s Foundry in Nevada City is hosting a Teen Fright Night at 7:30 p.m. today.

Four bands will perform at the event. They are Strifer, Pisces Knife, and Eat Dirt, all from Nevada County, and Didley Squat from Sacramento.

“There is going to be a costume contest,” said Gretchen Bond, executive director of Miner’s Foundry. “The kids can play poker. The building will be decorated. There’ll be a snack bar where they can get pizza and soda.”

Bond is expecting at least 200 people at the event.

“We are saying it is an all-age event, but the program is mainly for high school kids,” Bond said. “I am sure there will be some parents who will bring their kids.”

The entry fee is $10 at the door.

“It will be a real fun night for teens,” Bond said. “It will get them all ready for Halloween.”
