On Saturday, Sammie’s Friends will host an anniversary celebration from noon to 4 p.m. at the shelter, located at 14647 McCourtney Road in Grass Valley.

The shelter staff and volunteers are extending an invitation to all animal lovers in our community to come and meet some of the adoptable animals and walk away with a friend for life.

There will be hot dogs, chips and brownies for sale, and Lazy Dog Ice Cream will be there with its famously delicious ice cream.

Many local businesses have generously donated gifts for a raffle and silent auction. There will even be live music for this event.

There will be kittens galore, cats of all ages and dogs of all ages and breeds just waiting to meet and greet you. Volunteers will be there to answer any and all of your questions.

All profits from this event will go to help provide medical care to all animals in need within Nevada County.
