Safe and Sane – Are we insane?

What are we thinking? As we look across the street, unable to see our neighbor’s property due to smoke from the nearby wildfires and we are allowing fireworks sales in Grass Valley? Why would we even think of risking harming a family, devastating property damage or injury or worse to the brave men and women who fight fires by allowing fireworks to be sold in this area? There is nothing safe or sane about fireworks – they all take a match to light and we should avoid matches and fires in Nevada County at all cost! Can’t/won’t our government leaders put an emergency ban in effect to prevent potential further devastation to our county and community? Are they asleep at the wheel – do they not see what’s happening around us?

This community is bigger and better than needing fireworks and the potential risk they bring so that our children’s sports events can continue; we can find other safe ways to raise money for our children without risking the potential that a devastating fire could cause! Please reconsider the sale of fireworks immediately!
