RSVP: Oct. 1, 2010

Behind the ideas and efforts toward building a better world, volunteers fuel a movement of compassion and connection. You can make a difference by volunteering right here in our community. By sharing our time and talents to help others, you can help bring a sense of hope to our hearts, homes, neighborhoods, and ultimately our nation.

Adults 55 and older are invited to share their time and talents with Nevada County nonprofits, public agencies and schools.

Accident, liability and excess auto insurance are provided, and mileage reimbursement is available for people older than 55.

If you are interested in any of the following positions, call RSVP from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays at (530) 271-0255; e-mail to rsvp3@nccn.net; or visit our office at 471 Sutton Way, Suite No. 202, Grass Valley. Volunteers under 55 are encouraged to call.

Every year, Nevada Count children are removed from their families due to the abuse and/or neglect they have suffered. These children become dependents of the court system and need a committed, caring adult to advocate for them in court and support them throughout the court process. We are looking for volunteers who can make a minimum one-year commitment and approximately 12 hours a month. Training is provided.

Volunteers are needed in the Penn Valley area to work one on one with senior clients in an adult daycare setting. Assistance is needed Monday/Tuesday or Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Volunteers will help with arts and crafts and spend time with clients.
