Ridge Meadows development can build 50 houses

After nearly three years of planning and negotiating, a proposed housing development south of Ridge Road at Upper Slate Creek Road can move ahead.

The Grass Valley City Council late Tuesday unanimously approved Ridge Meadows, a 50-house project on a 9.2-acre parcel after the developer received final approval to close off Ryan’s Lane. City Council members wanted Ryan’s Lane closed and the public entrance moved to Upper Slate Creek Road.

The developer obtained all the necessary agreements with the owner of Upper Slate Creek Road several weeks ago, but didn’t reach a deal with owners of Ryan’s Lane easements until Tuesday.

“This has been a daunting process,” said developer Richard Kerr. “But we’ve achieved all of your goals.”

Ridge Meadows approval means nearly 100 new homes in the same area on busy Ridge Road. Ridge Village, which is on the north side of Ridge Road on a 10.6-acre plot near the Hughes Road intersection, received approval earlier this year.
