Ridge man arrested for failing to appear

A San Juan Ridge man accused of vehicular manslaughter in Contra Costa County was arrested for failing to appear in court, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Emmet Stark Farrell, 20, was arrested on an $85,000 warrant Wednesday at his home. He was booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility and was expected to be transferred for an appearance in Contra Costa County Superior Court.

On Oct. 21, Farrell’s girlfriend and passenger, 27-year-old Christa Griffiths of Grass Valley, died after Farrell crashed on Interstate 80 near Highway 4.

The CHP said he was under the influence of alcohol and driving faster than 80 mph.
