Ride free on Gold Country Stage Wednesday

Everyone will ride the Gold Country Stage for free this Wednesday in an attempt to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

People can ride all routes at no cost during regular operation times — 5:50 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The free service is provided through a Low Carbon Transit Operations Program air quality grant. The grant provides public transit services with financial assistance to help reduce greenhouse gases.

Riders can learn more about routes by calling 530-477-0103, extension zero.

The free rides fall on the heels of a three-day weekend for the county.

All county offices are closed Monday in observance of President’s Day. Trash collection will occur as usual.

The work week for the county will begin with a representative of U.S. Rep. Doug LaMalfa visiting Nevada County. Jennifer Horne will be in the county counsel’s office, on the second floor of the Eric Rood Administrative Center, 950 Maidu Ave., from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
