Richard Gippner

Richard Andrew Gippner died Feb. 25 due to health complications. He was 72.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City.



Mr. Gippner was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo., to Rose and Andy Gippner. He was their only son. He spent most of his youth in Albuquerque, N.M., where he graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1954. Shortly thereafter he moved to the Los Angeles area where he continued his education, met and married his wife Dorothy and began his career with the California Department of Transportation as a survey engineer. He and his wife had four children and later six grandchildren. After retirement he moved to the Grass Valley area. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who was dedicated to his family and most proud of his children and grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
