Record turnout for Daddy Daughter Dance

The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition’s Daddy Daughter Dance saw a record turnout, which will help the organization fund day-to-day operations.

Attendance at Friday night’s third annual event totaled 360 fathers, daughters, step-daughters, granddaughters and other princesses – well over DVSAC’s projection of 300 and far surpassing last year’s attendance of about 230 people.

The event raised about $4,000 for the organization, DVSAC Executive Director Niko Johnson estimated. The nonprofit educates people about domestic violence prevention and runs a shelter for victims.

“More importantly, this is a positive event we like to be part of,” Johnson said. “We get to connect with folks we might not get to connect with.”
