Real Heroes breakfast honors volunteers

The Western Nevada County branch of the Three Rivers chapter of the American Red Cross honored a group of heroes at its annual Real Heroes Breakfast Thursday.

The chapter honored 13 individuals for their service in a variety of areas, including military service, Good Samaritan, law enforcement, public service and community volunteers.

Those honored include a Grass Valley Police Department volunteer, a software engineer who serves as a volunteer firefighter, and a retired individual who serves as a cook and volunteer at his local church.

Those honored include Mackenzie Hild, John Hidalgo, Nate and Erica Allen, military veteran Milton Schmidt, police department volunteer Delbert Mack, volunteer Bob Vaughn, community volunteer John Eissinger, and Bob Rogers, who earned the “recovery volunteer” hero award from the Red Cross.
