Readers’ Corner: Sept. 15, 2010

The Food Bank of Nevada County is preparing for its 4th Annual High Tea on Oct. 16.

Connie Holley wanted readers to know the folks there need a few things:

“We are in dire need of tea cups, saucers and small, 8-inch plates (they do not need to match). If you are in possession of any of these items and would like to cut down on dusting time, perhaps we could help and take these items off your hands.

“Please contact the Food Bank at (530) 272-3796. As always, thank you for your continued and generous support.”

If you are 60 or older and need legal help but can’t afford a lawyer, you can contact Legal Services of Northern California.

Folks there can offer legal information, advice, help filling out legal forms and documents, and limited legal representation. (Legal Services can offer this because they have received a grant from the California Department of Aging and the nonprofit Area 4 Agency on Aging.)

Get more info at (530) 470-8562; ask to speak with a client advocate.

Readers’ Corner is compiled by The Union staff. To submit items, e-mail them to, and put “RC” and your topic in the subject line, or call (530) 477-4230.
