Readers’ Corner: Aug. 8, 2008

Sheila Blecksmith of Nevada City wants to let folks know that Chuck and Doni Antone will be back in town visiting until Aug. 19.

The Antones now live in Hawaii, but they resided in Grass Valley from 1964 to 1981. They owned a number of local beauty salons, Sheila says. Doni Antone also had a bookkeeping service for several businesses in Grass Valley.

The couple now work with an evangelistic ministry in Hawaii.

For more information about the Antones, call Sheila at 265-4446.

Teacher appreciation day at Staples

Teachers can always use more appreciation, especially now with school about to start and the state budget nowhere near getting passed.

So to feel some of the love, drop at Staples on Sutton Way on Saturday morning.

Staples is hosting its annual Teacher Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first 200 teachers visiting the store will get raffle prizes and a 512MB flash drive. In addition, if teachers sign up with the Staples Teacher Rewards program, they’ll qualify for various discounts throughout the year.

For more information on Teacher Appreciation Day, visit http://www.staples.com/teacherday. Teachers can enroll online in the Staples Teacher Rewards program at http://www.staplesrewards.com.
