The Colfax Jess E. Taylor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2003, instituted March 3, 1945, and its Ladies Auxiliary, instituted June 30, 1945, invite the public and special guests to a celebration of their 65th anniversary at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Colfax Theater.

Included in the anniversary commemoration will be an open house display of the post and auxiliary historical information and military artifacts from local members and others, a luncheon, patriotic music from the Lyrical Locos, and a showing of the film, “Taking Chance.”

A special tribute to our nation’s prisoners of war and missing-in-action will be presented on the Colfax Theater stage at 11 a.m., with guest speaker Leonard Lincoln, a World War II veteran flyer who was shot down over Germany and who survived a long death march to reach the prisoner camp.

The Rough and Ready Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will hold an Ice Cream Social and Dutch Auction on from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Rough and Ready Fire Station at 11042 Rough and Ready Road.

A choice of flavors and various toppings will be offered at a cost of $1 per person. The Dutch auction will include a wide variety of prizes.

A beautiful quilt will be raffled off at the event.
