Re: Travis’ Other Voices column

Mr. Weldon C. Travis provided an article in The Union’s Other Voices on Aug. 18. I was willing to hear Mr. Travis’ voice, however, I read and researched most of Mr. Travis’ impassioned statements and found many errors.

For example the birth name and place of President Obama, one of the most outstanding sources for well-documented facts in online information http://www.Snopes.com (www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/occidental.asp) stated that rumors spread about his birth certificate and college name were false and offers proof.

Further exploration would indicate that our nation was not “founded under Christianity” but rather under deism. The first Amendment specifically leaves out any reference to religion or Divine Being; and the Constitution forbid the establishment of any official church or creed. (ref: http://www.britannica.com/blogs/2007/02/the-us-founding-fathers-their-religious-beliefs/)

Also, from his illogical segueys into names of past criminals and crimes , it seems that Mr. Travis may suffer from P.T.S.D. and could benefit from therapy. Although I am grateful for his 33 years in law enforcement, I find his present employment worrisome. He carries a lot of fear, and his personal admission to stockpiling weapons “to ward off the state and federal authorities” borders on conspiracy. In his own words “one is known by the company one keeps.”
