Rape, assault charges for man

A North San Juan man has been jailed on suspicion of beating and raping a woman at her Grass Valley apartment this week.

Michael Wise, 46, is being held on $50,000 bail at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility since his arrest Tuesday.

Grass Valley Police Capt. Greg Hart said the 35-year-old alleged victim called police early Tuesday morning to report Wise assaulted her Monday at her apartment on Berryhill Drive.

He said the alleged victim knows Wise, as the two had a previous dating relationship.

“He physically assaulted her, then sexually assaulted her,” Hart said.

Wise was booked on suspicion of forcible rape, forcible penetration with a foreign object and willfull infliction of corporal injury.

He is scheduled to enter a plea 1 p.m. Oct. 26 in Nevada County Superior Court.
