Rain expected to let up during weekend

Showers are likely to continue today, but wet weather is expected to relent over the weekend, weatherman Harry Stockman forecasted.

“The weather system coming through (Thursday) is stronger than the one coming in (today),” Stockman, of Qwikcast.com, said.

Thursday’s storm came to Nevada County from British Columbia.

Today’s forecast calls for a “pretty good chance” of rain, Stockman said, with winds up to 30 mph continuing to blow from the south.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 58 and dip to lows in the forties tonight. Chances of rain will drop to 20 percent tonight and Saturday morning, Stockman said.

The weekend should be cloudy but dry. From now on, he advised, residents should prepare for full-blown autumn weather.

“This is definitely the time of year things start,” Stockman said. “It gradually ramps up from here.”
