Project Linus expands to Nevada County

Project Linus, an all-volunteer organization that provides comfort and security to seriously ill and traumatized children through handmade blankets, has created a new chapter in Nevada County.

Susan Piper will serve as chapter coordinator for the area together with Lori Humphrey. Susan and Lori’s volunteer duties will include recruiting “blanketeers” to make blankets as well as arranging distribution of these blankets to children via hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, etc. Susan and Lori will also be responsible for the chapter’s fund-raising efforts and expenses and serve as liaisons with Project Linus Headquarters in Bloomington, Ill.

Individuals, churches, social groups, senior centers, clubs such as 4-H, boys and girls scouts and schools can all participate by making blankets, donating materials or making a monetary donation to help defray expenses within the chapter.

Information: Susan Piper at 432-7758 or Lori Humphrey at 913-3544.
