Power outages slated for Lime Kiln area

If you live in the Lime Kiln Road-Cherry Creek area of Grass Valley, don’t plan on turning on any lights or running appliances during the day next Wednesday or Thursday. Your power will be turned off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days.

PG&E spokesperson Lisa Randle said the power outage is planned for some routine maintenance and to replace aging utility poles with new ones. The work must be done during daylight hours because the new power poles are brought in by helicopter and placed in the ground.

“We recognize it’s an impact to our customers,” Randle said. “We sent out a postcard mailer to notify everyone.”

The planned outage is expected to impact 514 PG&E customers in Nevada County.

The second day of maintenance, Thursday, workers will be re-wiring the poles.

Randle said that power could be restored earlier than 4 p.m. each day if work is completed.

Customers with concerns or questions are asked to call PG&E’s customer service line at (800) 743-5000.
