Popcorn sale slated

Members of the Golden Empire Council of the Boy Scouts of America will start pounding the pavement Sept. 28 as they kick off their annual sale of gourmet popcorn. The sale lasts through Oct. 21.

Last year, the Golden Empire Council sold more than 49,000 containers of Trail’s End Popcorn and raised more than $590,000 for council and local unit activities. The council has set a goal of $675,000 for this year.

More than 70 percent of the sales proceeds are returned to the Golden Empire Council and Scout units to help finance programs, camping, equipment and maintenance.

If you are not contacted by a Scout, call the Gold Country District Popcorn Kernel at 477-5642 to place an order.
