Police probing teen crash

Police are investigating a crash that hospitalized a Crescent City late last night on Bennett Street in Grass Valley.

According to Grass Valley Police, the 16-year-old was seen driving erratically in the downtown area about 1:10 a.m. Police spotted the youth’s Ford Mustang convertible, but lost sight of the vehicle near the intersection of Bennett and Ophir streets.

Minutes later, officers observed arcing power lines in the 500 block of Bennett Street next to the Durham Schools Services bus depot.

Further investigation located the vehicle overturned with a sheared power pole and about 100 feet of cyclone fence knocked down around it.

The youth was pinned in the vehicle and after being extracted, was transported by helicopter to Sutter-Roseville Medical Center for minor injuries.

The investigation into the incident continues and anyone with information is asked to call the police a 477-4600.
