Police blotter: Sept. 17, 2008

Grass Valley Police Department

Monday

6:37 a.m. – A taxi driver brought a cell phone into the department that had been left by a rider in his cab. The owner was contacted and retrieved the phone.



9:01 a.m. – A caller from the 500 block of Douglas Avenue reported repeated annoying phone calls from a juvenile. Officers contacted the youth and told the person to quit making the calls.

10:45 a.m. – A caller from the 300 block of Northstar Place reported her child locked himself in the residence. The apartment manager gained entry by kicking the door in.




11:01 a.m. – A person in the lobby of the department requested to speak to an officer about a juvenile who is sometimes out of control.

1:33 p.m. – A caller found a large knife under a tree at the entrance to Minnie Park. Officers booked the knife in as evidence.

3:13 p.m. – A business on Colfax Avenue reported a group of teens in a bathroom doing drugs. Responding officers could not locate the teens.

4:52 p.m. – A two-car wreck in a parking lot on Neal Street downtown resulted in no injuries.

5:20 p.m. – A caller from the 200 block of Joerschke Drive reported she was assaulted by a woman who dropped her baby to attack the caller. Responding officers cited and released the alleged attacker on suspicion of battery.

6:25 p.m. – A possible drunk driver was reported leaving the Nevada City area and headed toward Grass Valley. Officers were advised.

6:26 p.m. – A caller from the 100 block of Mohawk Street reported an assault between a father and son. Responding officers separated the men and mediated the peace.

6:37 p.m. – A caller from the 800 block of Annex Avenue reported an unwanted person was in their home with a bloody nose. Responding officers arrested the intruder on suspicion of being drunk in public and resisting an officer of the law.

8:44 p.m. – A caller said suspicious people hanging out at the corner of Northstar Place and Bennett Street may be responsible for the recent theft of her vehicle stereo. Officers were advised.

Tuesday

12:05 a.m. – A caller from the 140 block of Cypress Hill Drive reported an ongoing problem with a neighbor’s dog who had been barking for 30 minutes. Officers responded to the house and no one answered the door, but the dog quieted down. Animal Control was to follow up on the issue.

2:19 a.m. – Two people camping in Memorial Park were advised about the rule against camping inside the city and told to move on.

Monday

8:22 a.m. – A caller from the 14000 block of Pleasant Valley Road reported vandalism to a soccer field.

8:22 a.m. – A caller from the 22000 block of Montezuma Lane reported a purse theft on Highway 49 near the river.

8:48 a.m. – A caller from the 10000 block of Alta Street reported a juvenile who was dropped off at school but was refusing to stay.

11:47 a.m. – A caller from the 15000 block of Sunny Hill Road reported vandalism to property that took place Sept. 10.

11:51 a.m. – A caller from the 20000 block of Rock Mountain Road reported being assaulted by his neighbor.

1:43 p.m. – A man from the 19000 block of McCourtney Road reported a violation of a restraining order. The man said the restrained party called him nine times.

2:09 p.m. – A person from the 11000 block of Spenceville Road reported a traffic accident where a single vehicle ran into a pole.

3:05 p.m. – A caller from Calanan Park reported skateboarders going in and out of the traffic.

3:42 p.m. – A caller from the 22000 block of Cameo Drive reported that her fence was vandalized.

4:07 p.m. – A man from the 23000 block of Highway 49 reported his motorcycle was stolen from his garage. The man said his neighbor saw a bald man leave his residence on the motorcycle, without a helmet.

4:17 p.m. – A caller from the 15000 block of Greenhorn Road reported an identity theft.

4:19 p.m. – A caller from the 13000 block of Lava Cap Mine Road reported the theft of the caller’s credit card number. The caller said about $1,000 had been charged on the credit card.

6:05 p.m. – A caller from the 14000 block of Highway 49 reported theft of jewelry from the caller’s residence.

7:26 p.m. – A man from the 13000 block of Tall Oak Place reported an assault that happened the day before. The man said he knew who assaulted him but didn’t know the name of the assailant.

7:45 p.m. – A man from the 10000 block of Manzanita Drive reported his daughter called him reporting a domestic argument at her residence. The man said five small children were present in the house. He called back to request contact with officers.

7:13 p.m. – A man from the 10000 block of Robin Avenue was arrested on suspicion of violating probation and booked into the Nevada County jail.

Tuesday

3:30 a.m. – A 26-year-old man was arrested on the 300 block of Sacramento Street on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substances and for bringing drugs into prison and was booked into the Nevada County jail.

Monday

7:33 p.m. – A woman from the 300 block of Clay Street reported that her husband was being violent with her and trying to order her out of the house. The woman said the argument was regarding finances. The man was drunk and argumentative. Both parties agreed to stay in their part of the residence for the evening.
