Police blotter: Multiple tip jar thefts reported

Grass Valley Police Department

Friday

10:09 a.m. — A man on West Main and North Church streets was contacted with a bottle of alcohol, which he threw away.



10:33 a.m. — A caller from the 500 block of Sutton Way reported “Jihadist graffiti.” The graffiti was old and appeared to be “Arabic style” but was an obscenity in English.

11:06 a.m. — A caller from the 600 block of Freeman Lane reported finding a backpack related to a theft from last night.




11:12 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of West McKnight Way reported a shoplifter in custody.

11:14 a.m. — A caller from South Auburn Street and East McKnight Way reported a woman talking on her phone and running stop signs.

12:07 p.m. — A caller from the 700 block of Sutton Way reported a woman stole a bottle of perfume and fled on foot.

12:23 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of East Main Street reported a woman was driving drunk with a girl in the vehicle.

12:27 p.m. — A caller from the 700 block of Maltman Drive reported a man looking through vehicles.

2:34 p.m. — A caller from Brighton Street reported a vehicle hit a bicyclist.

2:51 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of East McKnight Way reported finding a syringe, which was collected for destruction.

5:04 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Race Street reported a vehicle was stolen; it then was returned.

5:28 p.m. — A caller from Memorial Park reported a drunken man urinating in public and leaving beer cans all over the place.

5:38 p.m. — A caller from the 600 block of Sutton Way reported finding two hypodermic needles.

6:13 p.m. — A caller form the 1000 block of Plaza Drive reported a transient camp.

6:15 p.m. — A caller from the 500 block of Mill Street reported a woman stole a tip jar.

7:04 p.m. — A caller from the 600 block of Freeman Lane reported a woman stole a tip jar.

7:07 p.m. — A caller from the 600 block of Freeman Lane reported the theft of items from a vehicle.

7:42 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Dorsey Drive reported a man banging on a door and yelling to let him in.

Saturday

1:08 a.m. — A woman from the 300 block of Pleasant Street reported the theft of a wallet.

1:33 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Scotia Pines Circle reported people yelling and vehicles racing up and down the street. Another caller then reported a collision.

1:54 a.m. — A caller from the 1400 block of Segsworth Way reported a physical fight.

Monday

7:05 a.m. — A caller from the 1000 block of Sutton Way reported transients camping.

8:48 a.m. — A caller from the 700 block of Butler Street reported the theft of a vehicle.

9:59 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of South Auburn Street reported transients living at he bottom of a staircase made a large mess.

11:56 a.m. — A caller from Old Tunnel and Banner Lava Cap roads reported an ill fox.

2:54 p.m. — A caller form Memorial Park reported a bathroom had been broken into.

3:28 p.m. — A caller from Brighton Street and McCourtney Road reported a vehicle hit a tree.

6:01 p.m. — A caller from the 1300 block of East Main Street reported a man hiding behind a building, who then left. At 6:32 p.m., a caller from the 800 block of Sutton Way reported a man who shoplifted from a store yesterday was back. It was the same man who had been hiding earlier and he said he was just walking through.

6:31 p.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Rhode Island Street reported a person tried the front door and was knocking on a bedroom window.

9:59 p.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Henderson Street reported a man stole the tip jar.

8:22 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Rattlesnake Road reported a runaway.

9:11 a.m. — A caller from Wolf Mountain reported a trespasser with a vehicle; the vehicle was found to have been stolen.

10:31 a.m. — A caller from Old Downieville Highway and Cedro Road reported a man sitting in a car for several days on the side of the road, staring at people.

1:01 p.m. — A caller from Sun Forest Drive reported a physical fight, with a serving fork getting stuck in a bedroom door; a report was taken.

1:19 p.m. — A caller from the 16000 block of Orchard Springs Road reported a burglary to a vehicle with a pellet pistol missing. A black neoprene glove was left behind.

2:05 p.m. — A caller from the 16000 block of Fritillary Way reported a dog attacked another dog.

2:07 p.m. — A caller from the 15000 block of Orchard Springs Road reported hearing a physical fight.

2:29 p.m. — A caller from the 14000 block of Rudd Road reported a chimney fire.

6:27 p.m. — A woman from Quaker Hill Cross and Banner Quaker Hill roads reported a spinout and running into a tree; she was uninjured.

7:28 p.m. — A caller from Plover Way reported a physical fight.
